The selection of mentors left a lot to be desired. I put up a job on Codementor, but honestly, the quality for someone at an intermediate level just wasn't there. I was hoping to find a mentor for desktop development since I was transitioning from web development. The folks who reached out claimed to be 'experts,' but when I threw some basic questions their way about multithreading or thread management, they either ignored me or gave me completely off-base answers.

Even when I asked simple stuff about async/await, one of them suggested using SignalR for background tasks 🤦‍♂️. That was a straightforward question, and it had nothing to do with desktop development; it was all about C#. I really wonder how they can call themselves experts if they can't handle such basic queries.

One instructor wanted to set up a trial session, but when I posed my questions, he was stumped.

I walked away feeling pretty let down and honestly a bit disgusted, especially given the high fees and the lackluster quality of the mentors available. This platform seems more suited for beginners rather than those of us at an intermediate level.

This is a fantastic platform for students or anyone else who finds themselves in need of assistance, as many experts are available to lend a hand. For developers, it’s pretty neat too, since they don’t have to sit around waiting for clients to discover them through a personal website or Fiverr. Instead, the codementors actively check out customer requests and can jump on those that match their expertise.

Overall, it’s a really awesome platform, and I’ve made some great connections through it!
